Paavo Lipponen (soc dem), a former Finnish prime minister, on Saturday compared Finland´s ruling Conservatives to "McCain´s America", adding both were attempting to distance themselves from "capitalism´s crimes" and pose as the worker´s friend.

"The National Coalition party´s haughty posturing with the notion of "the worker´s president" and supposedly getting to work by donning overalls do not make for a particularly civilised impression," Mr Lipponen said at the centenary of the Tapanila workers´ association.
