Two suicide bombers killed 16 recruits for the Iraqi security forces and wounded 30 others north of Baghdad on Tuesday, the U.S. occupation military said, just days after Iraq promised a major security crackdown in the region.

A police source said 20 people were killed and 55 wounded.

The bombers blew themselves up in a queue at a recruitment centre in Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) northeast of Baghdad.
