HEYET Net – Salam Mosque located in al Risalah region belong to Abu Ghraib district was subjected to a heinous attack by unknown gunmen which led to killing of five prayers and wounding of seven others during their evening prayers on Thursday.

At the press statement AMSI said: “Like previous dangerous situation, unidentified gunmen attacked to al Salam (peace) Mosque in al Risala – Abu Ghraib region on Thursday evening while the worshippers were to pray in the mosque.

Eyewitnesses said that the gunmen opened fire to the worshippers who were praying as a result five of them were killed nine others wounded differently.”

AMSI evaluated this incident as strange after completing of the government forces for deployment in the region areas entirely, then the spread was limited to center and some areas there; this crime sheds astray great doubt on the motives and nature of the crime.

In the press statement AMSI also stressed that: “This heinous incident demonstrates the deplorable perpetrators and their full hatred for the mosques and places of worship clearly its disregard to the lives of innocent people.

The Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (AMSI) condemns this heinous crime; hold players from whichever sides they are, the occupation forces and the current government responsible for the crime. AMSI calls for the sons of Iraq to have greater caution against those tempted to trade their sick presence with the security of innocent people.”
